The majority of Disney movies sends messages that for females, the ultimate objective in life is to find a man. Disney movies are introduced to children at a young age and have an impact on the way in which they view the world. Arthur Phillips is a current american novelist.
“Love is not sufficient. It never has been. Stories that claim otherwise are lies. There's always SOMETHING after happily ever after.” - Arthur Phillips

"Love is not sufficient" (Phillips) is a . The desire to find love and get married roots from ones desire to fit in and reach societies expectation. Due to this we often replace not finding love with not being desirable which then poses as a threat to ones self esteem and/or mental health. The cycle is cruel and depressing but common and very rarely interrupted.

Music, songs and artists have a huge influence on the pop culture of each era. The lyrics of a song also impact the way we think and behave. Songs such as love story by Taylor Swift reinforce the happily ever after stereotype. Further more, they create an even stronger divide between genders in our society. Songs like this encourage the stereotype that woman need rescuing and are dependent upon men. In addition to this it allows society to think that a women's success surrounds her ability to find her prince charming.

A major part of the "happily ever after" stereotypes is promoted through a world renowned genre of film called Romantic Comedies. Romantic comedies generally have a humorous vibe surrounding a light love story. The plot generally ends with the girl getting the boy or vise versa resulting in a stereotypical happily ever after.

The mass production of visual entertainment surrounds stereotypes and repetitive gender roles that play a significant role in today's society. The idea of "living happily ever after" reinforces a social construction that is unrealistic and often pressuring. This stereotype is in-incorporated in all aspects of entertainment.
